Reverberations 2010

The most awaited cultural event in Chennai, the talents of numerous schools across the city displayed in a short span of three days, with a vibrant background of music, celebrities and pure energy. Yes, you guessed it. Reverberations 2010, the brainchild of the PSBB schools.

Day Zero was held in the home grounds in PSBB KKNagar and for eight hours, the preliminary rounds for various events like adzap, shipwreck and debatito continued. The judges for these events were the alumni of both the schools. The final rounds for the sports events (FIFA, DOTA and AAA) as well as photography took place on Day Zero. In addition to that, Reverbs Ink, the tattoo competition, judged by the owner of Ire Zumi was held on the same day.

Day one and Day two were held in Vani Mahal. Day one, after being formally inaugurated by Mrs. Sheela Rajendra, began with a boom with the host performance by KKNagar students for the western music events. Following that was the spoof theatre judged by two very famous personalities, ‘Crazy’ Mohan and Mr. Ramesh. KKNagar students followed by the Nungambakkam students blew the stage away with their respective host performances for the Group dance event.

DJ Ashok, who has been attending Reverberations for the last five odd years, kept the audience moving to his beats. Whilst the Mini Hall was the host to the finals of debatito and shipwreck, Channel Surfing, judged by Melvin, and JAM, moderated by the extremely articulate Naveen Thomas were held in the Main Hall.

On Day two, the tension eked out of everyone as the final day had dawned. The benignity in the room was easily replaced by a sense of serenity as the host performance for light music took off, and the auditorium echoed with the stunningly moving tones of both schools’ students. ‘Ghatam’ Vidwan Sri Uma Shankar, Ajeesh –of Airtel Super Singer fame – and playback singer Anita judged the event.

Just as the finals for the quiz took place in the Main Hall, the Mini Hall was flooded with audience when the Adzap finals took place, judged by comedians Mr. Santhanam and Mr. Jagan.

Last, but not the least, the grand finale, the climax of the show, the all awaited end, the selection of Master /Ms. Reverberations! The audience watched in open-mouthed amusement as the seven finalists battled it out on stage through a series of contests like eat-o-mania and shipwreck, to determine who was the winner of the largest school culturals of Chennai. While the results were tallied, our Chief Guest, the incomparable and the extremely talented Mr. T. M. Krishna, gave his views of Reverberations ’10, giving it a firm thumbs-up and encouraged us to promote more classical events, a thought heartily seconded by our Dean, Mrs. YGP. Our Guest of Honour, Arya, the man that made every girl in the crowd swoon, put in his two cents just before Vidya Mandir was announced as the overall winner of Reverberations ’10.

Hearty congratulations to the teachers, students and volunteers who made the event possible, and a special mention for their ‘Go Green’ initiative must be made. Reverberations more than lived up to its name and fame, and its energy will be felt for many years to come.
